Administration
Kate Altman, Principal

Mrs. Altman began her career as a second-grade teacher in Hudson, MA, where she taught for 11 years before joining the Ashland Public Schools in July 2018. She began her leadership journey as the assistant principal at Henry Warren Elementary, a position she held for five years. In 2023, she was honored as the Massachusetts Assistant Principal of the Year and went on to represent the state as the National Assistant Principal of the Year. That same year, she transitioned to the David Mindess School, continuing her leadership as assistant principal. During this time, she played a key role in opening the brand-new Mindess building, warmly welcoming students, families, and the broader community into the innovative new learning space.
In 2025, Mrs. Altman was named principal of the David Mindess School, where she looks forward to continuing to build a strong, inclusive school culture focused on academic excellence, student well-being, and meaningful partnerships with families and staff.
